THE WAY IT MAKES ME FEEL WHEN YOU SHRINK WRAP IT LIKE THAT, 2019

Gillian Kayrooz, The Way It Makes Me Feel When You Shrink Wrap It Like
That
, 2019, HD video, colour, sound, 5 minutes 7 seconds.
The Way It Makes Me Feel When You Shrink Wrap It Like That is a collection of organic material and man made debris from the parkland and surroundings of Tenjinyama. The video works comment on the domestic interaction between the natural and local environment observed in the neighbourhood of Sumikawa. In particular, the parallel behaviours of consumer production vs. environmental protection.

Through the use of a scanner, the floral matter and plastic consumables are brought to life through a delicate series of photographs, drawing similarities to the dutch vanitas genre of still-life.
